The Rekindling Pothohar Exhibition was launched on 8 August 2022 at the Nehru Centre, High Commission of India, London.
In launching the Exhibition, Amish Tripati, Director of the Nehru Centre said that there is much that the Pothohar Association can be proud of.
Also speaking at the event Dr Peter Chadha said that the history of the Pothohar is not just for Hindus, Muslims and Sikhs, but this history is significant for all of humankind.
It was a pleasant surprise for some of the attendees to trace their ancestral connections with Pothohar. Few of them, like filmmaker Deven, shared that he had never heard the word ‘Pothohar’ and after attending the exhibition he is inclined to find out more about his family’s connection to the region.
A common sentiment shared by many was that exhibitions like these are an important reminder that history should not make you bitter but better.
The Exhibition was well received. We are grateful to the Heritage Fund for funding the project and the Punjab Restaurant, which kindly provided catering for the launch event.
The Launch was followed by a screening of Children of Partition: An Oral History of Pothoharis.
The Exhibition was on display at the Nehru Centre from 8-12 August 2022.
