Partition Stories

The Partition of India is a large part of every Pothoharis family history.

As part of our Rekindling Pothohar Project we collected some stories for our Children of Partition Documentary. With the 80th Anniversary of Partition fast approaching in 2027 we aim to present more Partition stories form our members. If you have a family story please get in touch so we can preserve these stories for future generations.

The Pothohar Association UK was founded in 1970.
It aims to:

  • Promote understanding of people with origins in the Pothohar Region who were exiled during the Partition of India
  • Preserve the history and heritage of Pothohar in Great Britain and beyond.
  • Foster intra-community and inter-generational relationships.
  • Facilitate Sewa (selfless service) including direct contribution and collaboration with charities and other community organisations.
