ANNUAL VAISAKHI EVENT AND COMMEMORATION OF THE CENTENARY OF THE AMRITSAR MASSACRE
The Annual Vaisakhi event was held on 13 April 2019 at Ealing Gurdwara , London. This year the event was made more poignant as it was held on the 100th anniversary of the massacre at Jallianwala Bagh, Amritsar.
The day was remembered by recitation of Sukhmani Sahib follwed by Shabad Kirtan. The Ardas was said at exactly 12:45pm London time (5:15pm Indian time) the exact time that the bullets started firing at the crowd of unarmed civilians in Jallianwala Bagh exactly 100 years earlier.
Following the end of the religious programme members of the association gathered outside the Gurdwara where white doves and balloons were released in memory of those victims of the Massacre.
