Pothohar Association UK Supports the Launch of the Partition Memorial Trust in Parliament

On 28 October 2025, the Pothohar Association UK was proud to take part in the official launch of the Partition Memorial Trust at the Houses of Parliament — marking a historic step towards creating the UK’s first permanent memorial dedicated to the Partition of India in 1947.

Our President, Bhupinder Singh Bhasin, spoke at the event, reaffirming the Association’s support for this landmark initiative, which aims to honour those affected by Partition and create a lasting space for remembrance, reflection, and healing.

In his address, Mr Bhasin reflected on the importance of preserving the memories and experiences of those who lived through Partition, ensuring that future generations understand both the pain and the resilience that shaped our shared history.

He also had the privilege of introducing three Partition survivors — Mr Vishwa Nath Luthra, Mrs Shafiqua Akhtar and Mrs Jagjit Kaur Goel, a former committee member of the Pothohar Association UK. Their presence served as a poignant reminder of the enduring human stories behind this momentous historical event.

The Pothohar Association UK is honoured to stand alongside the Partition Memorial Trust and its partners in supporting this vital project. The project will ensure the human stories of Partition are never forgotten and that future generations understand the cost of division.
